In terms of paper products, the cumulative output of the national paper products industry in 2019 was 72.119 million tons, an increase of 1.90% year-on-year. The top five regions in output were Guangdong, Zhejiang, Fujian, Hubei and Jiangsu, of which Guangdong completed a cumulative output of 12.5462 million tons (Accounting for 17.38%); Zhejiang completed cumulative output of 773,590 tons (10.72%); Fujian completed cumulative output of 6,305,300 tons (8.73%); Hubei completed cumulative output of 5,706,400 tons (7.9%); Jiangsu completed cumulative output of 508.52 Ten thousand tons (accounting for 7.04%).

Market fragmentation is obvious
The paper packaging market is pyramidal in terms of profitability and volume: the bottom of the pyramid is industrial packaging and low-end commercial packaging. The volume is the largest. The raw materials are mainly box board and corrugated. The structure is simple and the degree of personalization is low. The daily profit level of daily necessities, fast-moving consumer goods, express delivery packaging and some bulky goods with high customer prices (such as home appliances), the net profit level is about 2% to 5%; high-end commercial packaging mainly uses white cardboard and whiteboard Mainly paper and other materials, exquisite printing, complex structure, high value-added design, mainly used for high customer unit price, small volume commodities, such as consumer electronics, high-end liquor, boutique cigarette cases, high-end gifts, including consumer electronics packaging net margin In 5%~15%, the net profit margin of tobacco and alcohol packaging can reach 20%~30%.

The proportion of small and medium-sized enterprises in China’s paper packaging industry exceeds 60%, and the market share of CR5 is less than 10%. The main reason for the decentralized competition pattern: the industry is intensive, and although printing equipment has certain capital barriers, small and medium-sized manufacturers can still survive with low labor costs. Barriers to entry are still low; products are sensitive to transportation costs, with a transportation radius of 100-150km, leading to regional segregation of small and medium-sized manufacturers; downstream demand comes from multiple industries such as consumer electronics, cigarettes, wine, cosmetics, health care products, etc. It is difficult to increase the concentration.
Combining the business revenues of major enterprises in 2019 and the income estimates of enterprises above designated size in my country’s paper product packaging industry, in 2019, my country’s paper product packaging industry CR5 market share was only 4.40%, and the industry concentration needs to be further improved.
